Community Word for June 2014

WORD    The Holy Spirit empowers us to make disciples of all nations.

ORDER    “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” (Mt 28:19)

PROPHECIES:
1.    Be my witnesses and share the Good News of salvation as you have freely received.

DIRECTIONS: 
1.    Use the gifts of the Holy Spirit that you received in your baptism (i.e. LSS) for the good of others and help build God’s kingdom in your family and community.
2.    Receive the Holy Eucharist frequently if not daily so that you may remain in God.

THEMES AND PROMISES

Week#1 (Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord)    
Theme:  We are empowered by the Holy Spirit when we observe all His commandments.
Promise: “… I am with you always…” (Mt 28:30)

Week#2 (Pentecost Sunday)
Theme: We are empowered by the Holy Spirit when we exercise our spiritual gifts.
Promise: “To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the same benefit.” (1Cor 12:7)

Week#3 (Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity)    
Theme: We are empowered by the Holy Spirit when we love and fellowship with God as a community.
Promise: “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.”  (Jn 3:16)

Week#4 (Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ)   
Theme: We are empowered by the Holy Spirit when we partake of Christ’s body and blood in the Holy Eucharist.
Promise: “…whoever eat this bread will live forever.” (Jn 6:58b)

Week#5 (Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul)    
Theme: We are empowered by the Holy Spirit when we proclaim Christ as the Son of the Living God.
Promise: “…the crown of righteousness awaits me which the Lord will award to me on that day.”  (2Tim 4:8)
