BLD Covenant House Additional Rooms Project “BLD CH 77”

On October 13, 2012, contract for the completion of additional rooms of the BLD Covenant House in Dasmariñas, Cavite was finally signed.  Bukas Loob sa Diyos Foundation, Inc. President, Raul Garcia, signed the contract on behalf of BLD.  Contract signing was witnessed by Mari Garcia and Senen Rivera, Covenant House Administrator.

Over the past 10 years, our BLD Covenant House has increasingly served as a haven for countless BLD families, married couples, solo parents, singles and youth, whose lives were changed forever after a weekend encounter with the Lord.  It has likewise become a preferred venue for retreats, encounters, seminars and conferences by many Christian communities, parishes, schools and other organizations.

However, because of our limited 44-room capacity, many have been turned away.  Unknown to many, there are 33 unfinished rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the right wing awaiting completion.

It was in this light that the Executive Council of Servant Leaders (ECSL), with the encouragement of His Grace, Archbishop Angel Lagdameo, Community Spiritual Director, launched a campaign to finish the work started some 10 years ago.  Work had actually begun in 2009 with the completion of the new hallway and comfort rooms on the ground floor of the right wing portion.

The bidding conducted by the Bid Committee resulted in a much lower bid compared to the original project cost estimates and gave a savings of P3.1 Million.  Contract was then awarded to R.M. Mangubat Construction and Phase I work commenced immediately thereafter and the construction work is now ongoing.

As of October 31, 2012, donations amounted to P2.5 Million.  Donations for finishing and furnishing a room (P200,000) came from the BLD Districts of Detroit, Vancouver, Cleveland, Davao, BLD Manila Solo Parents Ministry, and members – Jun & Alice de Guzman (Los Angeles), Romy & Joy Balagot (Rockville Centre), Bogie & Margie Lorenzo (Manila), Tony & Auring Paz (Seattle), anonymous (Trenton).  Other donations came from the BLD Districts of Washington, Albany, Hong Kong, San Pablo South, Trenton, Reno, St. Catharines, Camden, Cebu, Lucena and Lipa and from individuals – John & Fe Lansang (Salt & Light), Sofia Almonte (Albany), St. James Renewal Movement, Tess Cruz (Viva Renewal Prayer Group), Alegria Limjoco, Rosana Rondario and Agnes Tabing. We thank all of them for their generous donation.
Appeal for Donation

We continue to appeal to BLD Districts, members and community friends to help complete the project and transform the unfinished rooms to usable space and rooms.  You can donate for the full cost of the room or make partial donations using and filling up the Pledge Form (please click this link) and submit preferably by email to the BLD Covenant House or ECSL Secretariat office – bldcsl@bldworld.org.

As a token of our gratitude for your donation of the total cost of a room, you will have the privilege of dedicating/naming the room to your Patron Saint, Mother Mary, bible verse, biblical holy place or event, etc.  You will also be acknowledged as a donor with your name at the back of the door.  If you donate partially, we will take care of pooling your donations with other donors and the privilege of naming the room will be given to the biggest donor.

May the Lord reward you with His abounding blessings and graces for your generosity.
