Reflection:
The scriptural readings for the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity are meant to give us an opportunity to know and understand the loving relationship of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. That by understanding this great mystery we may be transformed to have a deep loving relationship with our Triune God.
Our theme for this week tells us – Our life is transformed when we embrace the love of God that is poured into our hearts. Real transformation can only come from having a relationship with God. Let us remember that God created us out of love. He loves us so much that He sent His own beloved Son Jesus to live with us so that we may experience His mercy, while fulfilling His plan of salvation through Christ’s death and resurrection. And to show His continuing love for us, He gave us the gift of His Holy Spirit to be our Advocate to empower us, that we may continue Jesus’ mission of helping draw more people into having a closer relationship with Him. It is truly the love of God that will lead us to newness in life.
The 1st reading describes God as our Creator (cf. Prv 8:22-31). The magnificence of creation is highlighted in the responsorial psalm, describing us as the most blessed part of His creation – “You have made him little less than the angels and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him rule over the works of your hands, putting all things under his feet,” (Ps 8:6-7). In the 2nd reading, St. Paul speaks about the gift of salvation which God, our Father, has extended to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, and poured out upon us by the love which flows from the Holy Spirit – “…the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us,” (Rom 5:5). And in the Gospel, Jesus promises a further share in the life of God by the presence of the Holy Spirit – “He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you,” (Jn 16:14).
The Spirit of Truth that will guide us to understanding the mystery of the Holy Trinity can only be found in God’s word. As we keep God’s word, it is the essence and glory of God that we will clearly see. And we will surely have a deeper understanding and love for the most Holy Trinity who is our Abba Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As Christian disciples, let us continue striving to read God’s word daily and allow God to transform us by this Truth which Jesus promises us, “Everything that the
Father has is mine…he will take from what is mine and declare it to you,” (Jn 16:15).

Prayer:
Our God and Father, You are uniquely one yet also a relationship of three. Through Your goodness, You invite us to come into Your relationship. We thank you for your Son, Jesus, because through Him, we have been saved. And as a sign of Your love, You gave to us Your Holy Spirit to be our Advocate. For this we give You honor, glory, and praise. We make this prayer as we call upon Your name as our Maker, with Jesus as our Saviour, and the Holy Spirit who sanctifies us with life, fellowship and communion. We exalt Your name, Abba Father, Son & Holy Spirit. Amen!
Reflection Questions:

  1. How can you imitate the perfect love and unity of the Blessed Trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? How can we become part of their perfect relationship?
  2. In what way can I make others come to know God as the Holy Trinity, one God in three Divine Persons?
