CSL Letter During Time of Quarantine

Ref: 20-0327-013

March 27, 2020

To: BLD Global Community

Thru: Cluster Shepherds (CS)

Cc: Bishop Rey G. Evangelista

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We extend our fraternal greetings to all of you from our homes in the Philippines when all of us are under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). Everyone is required to stay home for social distancing to avoid contamination of Covid-19. We cannot go out except to buy food, medicine and other necessities, or if one is a medical and other “frontline” worker.

As we wait out this disease to go away, our community does not come to a halt. We continue to worship and pray to our Father even if we do not congregate physically in one place. As John wrote in his gospel, “true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth; and indeed the Father seeks such people to worship Him,” (Jn 4:23).

During these times, we encourage everyone to sustain and even intensify our prayers. Many are already doing them, but allow us to outline some of the spiritual activities that we can do in our homes: deeds

1.On line praise and worship thru social media forum (e.g. Messenger, Zoom, Viber, etc.).
2.On line word sharing and reflection. This may be organized by circles or groups. Please use the WSC reflection published in the global FB page – BLD Catholic Charismatic Covenant Community – Global (please like this page for notification)
3.Hearing mass on line. Mass should not be a replay, and you should actively participate as if you are in church. Recite the prayer for Spiritual Communion.
4.Daily prayers which may include the following: (Members can agree on a common prayer time)
a.Holy Rosary and Litany of the Blessed Mother
b.Chaplet of the Divine Mercy
c.Oratio Imperata Against Covid-19 (updated)
d.Psalm 91
e.Novena prayers to the Blessed Mother, Angels and the Saints
f.Station of the Cross
g.24-hour vigil where a member commits to pray for an hour for deliverance from the pandemic.
h.Intercessory prayers for the healing of BLD members who are sick, especially those affected by Covid-19. Unfortunately, we already have BLD members who are sick or hospitalized due to Covid-19.
5.Make a spiritual and sincere confession to God and do a genuine act of contrition (refer to the counsel of Pope Francis about this).
6.Wherever possible, help those who are in need, like sharing food or running an errand when one is not capable of doing so, take care of the elderly, etc.

The Council of Servant Leaders regularly meets on line for praise and worship, intercession, word sharing, and waiting on the Lord. We will endeavour to release the monthly and weekly WSC Reflection Guide thru the BLD FB page. Likewise, please do not hesitate to let us know about any updates in your district if practical to do so.

Let us all be vigilant and follow the instructions of the authorities, stay home and take all precautionary measures seriously.

We pray for the wellness of everyone, most especially for our dear BLD brothers and sisters and their families. In these trying times of Covid-19 pandemic, we are more than ever reminded to go back to God and embrace His grace of healing. Our community theme for this coming Sunday, 5th Sunday of Lent, is: We are transformed to a life of holiness when we believe in the healing grace of God; and we are given this very reassuring Promise from Jn 11:25 – “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live.”

God bless us all,
Council of Servant Leaders
