Our Presiding Servant Leaders, Jojo and Koi Jalandoni, re-echoed to the global BLD Community thru the DSL’s/ SDC’s, the appeal of our BLD Davao DSL, Jing and Shonie Abella, for urgent aid to the victims of the devastation wrought by Typhoon Pablo in the Philippines. Hardly hit were our countrymen in Compostela Valley in Northern Davao.
Dear DSL,
Kindly knock on the hearts of your members and should they respond, you know what to do next. Meantime, let us enjoin all our members to intercede for our nearly 800 brothers and sisters (both Christians and Muslims alike) who died and the nearly 900 individuals (and counting) who have been declared missing.
Lest we forget, please inform us that you have remitted some monies. Thank you everyone. Merry Christmas and God bless us all.
In Christ,
Jojo & Koi

Subject: Appeal for Assistance for Victims of “PABLO”
Dear Tito Jojo,
As you are all aware by now, Typhoon Pablo has wreaked havoc on the northern part of Davao Province, and one of the areas that was most devastated and literally flattened was the municipality of New Bataan, Compostela Valley. Our own Fr. Edgar Tuling happens to be the parish priest of New Bataan. He conducts MEWs for BLD Davao District. Last Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, he requested to give the reflection in the DIP Tagum worship to have the opportunity to ask the community’s help for the residents of Pablo-stricken New Bataan.
Flash floods swept the valley which rendered most residents homeless. Mud in the church was knee deep. The Regan Hall which was used for shelter was also buried in mud. Excavation of the place revealed dead bodies as well as dismembered parts. Devastation was widespread. BLD Tagum immediately responded and was able to raise P50,000 and rice, canned goods, water, clothes and other basic items. BLD Tagum have members who have family and relatives directly affected by the calamity. We also know of 2 member couples in Davao with relatives who were affected in Bagangga and New Corilla.
People are in need of food, water, medicines, clothes, blankets, kitchen utensils and other household items as entire homes were washed away. To date, the mortality has gone up to 600+ and missing persons at 900+.
Last December 6 impromptu meeting after our Eucharistic Celebration, based on initial reports, the DCS approved to send P15,000 to Fr. Tuling’s parish and P5,000 to Fr. Boyet to repair the roof of the QAC’s Seminary. During the special meeting of the DCS/DSL last night (Dec. 10, 2012) it was decided that we forego the holding of the annual Family Day of the community scheduled on Dec. 30, 2012. Instead we will solicit from the community, their relatives and friends and then bring relief goods to New Bataan with the help of Fr. Boyet de los Reyes, the Spiritual Director of DIP Tagum. We are also appealing to the ECSL to help us in this endeavor.
Sorry for this late email. We were waiting for the pictures to be sent to us but have not been received at this time. We will email them to you as soon as we receive them.
God bless,
Jing & Shonie Abella
