Subject:   Appeal for Donations to Help Victims of Typhoon Maring and Habagat

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

May the love and care of the Lord be with you!

For three days last August 19 – 21, continuous heavy rains enhanced by Typhoon Maring caused severe flooding and landslides in many areas in Metro Manila, NCR, Central Luzon, and Southern Tagalog provinces.  The NDRRMC reported that 643,000 families and 2.9 million individuals were affected or displaced and 58 casualties (25 dead, 30 injured. 3 missing).  About 1531 houses were damaged and P633 million worth of agriculture and infrastructure were destroyed.  We are saddened with the news that some BLD members were also affected by the floods in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, and Bulacan.

As a community, we would like to be able to help alleviate the suffering of our countrymen, especially our own BLD members, and be able to contribute to their rehabilitation.  In this regard, we are posting this appeal to those who would like to help financially.  As soon as we are able to gather some disaster funds, we will extend immediate help to the affected BLD members and dioceses/ parishes through the Social Action ministry of the diocesan bishops.

If you are led to donate and come to the aid of the Maring/ Habagat victims, please give your contributions to your respective Management Stewards who are requested to immediately pool the donations and remit to the either of the following accounts:
Bukas Loob sa Diyos Foundation, Inc.
•    Peso Account: 0321-0214-41
Bank of the Philippine Islands
Legaspi-Amorsolo Branch, Makati, Philippines
Swift Code: BOPIPHMM

•    Dollar Account: 170-000-8569
Banco de Oro Unibank (BDO)
Paseo II Branch, Makati, Philippines
Swift Code: BNORPHMM

Please notify us of your donations by email to: bldcsl@bldworld.org, attention: Alfred Kudemus

As our help comes from the Lord, may we continue to extend compassion to those who are in need and carry them through their difficulties and distress.  “He who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.” (Prov 22:9)

Thank you for helping.  God bless.
For the Executive Council of Servant Leaders,

Ben and Ely Marquez
Presiding Servant Leaders
