THANK YOU: BLD Donated 1.4 Million Pesos to the Victims of Habagat and Typhoon Pablo

The generous response to the fundraising appeals to help the victims of Habagat flooding in Southern Luzon and Typhoon Pablo in Mindanao is another manifestation of BLD members’ concern and compassion for the helpless victims of natural calamities in the Philippines.  Our Community Spiritual Director and the ECSL extend their gratitude and appreciation to all who donated relief goods, money, and time as they immediately responded to the call to help the calamity victims, some of them our own BLD members and parishes of BLD priests.

The Habagat relief was coordinated by BLD Manila, BLD Malolos and BLD San Pablo, distributing relief goods and much needed cash for loss of properties and livelihood in flooded areas in Pasig, Taytay, Meycauayan, Malolos and low lying areas in Laguna.  Most help were given to our BLD members in Malolos/ Meycauayan area and thru the Diocese of Malolos.  Some help were given to BLD priests whose parish churches were damaged by flooding.  Total donations received from BLD globally amounted to P902,000.  Please refer to attached report. The Typhoon Pablo relief was coordinated by BLD Davao, BLD Tagum and BLD Mati for typhoon-ravaged areas in Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, New Bataan and Compostela Valley.  They immediately responded with distribution of relief goods.  BLD Davao cancelled its Family Day celebration and donated their funds to the victims instead.  Donations were given thru the relief efforts of the parishes and diocesan bishops of Mati and Tagum.  Some funds are being used to help in the rehabilitation efforts of the Bishop of Tagum in the reconstruction of houses for the poor and chapels.  Total donations received from BLD global districts amounted to P500,620.  Please refer to the report (download report PDF file) and Oplan Tabang of the Diocese of Tagum (download brochure)
